Administrative Officer

Serves as the Administrative Officer for the Regional Director (RD) at a regional office within the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). Receives telephone calls and screens out those which can be handled by supervisor's subordinates or other offices and tactfully refers them as appropriate. Monitors telephone calls, especially those received from other government agencies, listing the name of the caller and a synopsis of the conversation. Receives requests for informative material concerning programs being studied and developed on which supervisor has been working. Responsible for securing communication efforts for execution protocol, maximum security control unit hearings and issues related to terrorist documents and other sensitive data. Maintains master files of BOP program statements, operations memoranda, policy waivers and program manuals. Informs supervisor on matters pertaining to procedures relating to the clearance of memoranda, various reports, status of various recurring items and the source from whom the supervisor can obtain a quick explanation of various matters. Responsible for assisting in developing policy, providing expert advice in an area of correctional specialty, or to provide guidance, direction, supervision, advice and/or evaluation for a program or programs in correctional facilities. To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements:
Education Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.OR Experience You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of qualifying experience are:

Experience ensuring all support activities related to timekeeping, preparation and processing of travel documents, conference planning, arranging teleconferences, solicitation of hotel and meeting space, equipment maintenance, mail processing, correspondence, responses to telephone requests for information, and other administrative tasks are completed correctly and in compliance with federal regulations. Experience maintaining the calendars of agency management and scheduling appointments and meetings based on priorities involved, prior commitments and other time demands. Experience with the budgetary process, consolidating budget requirements within the office, preparing analyses, comparing requests with amounts available, logging and maintaining files of requests, monitoring the budget and recommending actions to avoid funding deficiencies. OR Combination of Education and ExperienceHave a combination of education and experience. This experience must have equipped you with the qualifications to perform the major duties of this position as described above. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as number of hours worked per week) spent in the activities. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
